Why Join a Church?
The Bible teaches that membership in a local church is the normal expectation for a healthy Christian. Christians are called to assemble together regularly to build one another up in Christ (Hebrews 10:23-25), to encourage one another regularly (Hebrews 3:12-14), to work together to get the Gospel to lost people around the world (Matthew 28:18-20), to protect each other from sin (James 5:19-20), to guard the church from hypocrisy (Matthew 18:15-18), and to be built up by the regular teaching of God’s Word through gifted teachers (Hebrews 13:17).
To faithfully follow these commands, Christians lock arms with other believers in a local church to foster deep, authentic, God-glorifying, sin-fighting relationships.
Our Membership Process
Membership Class
Once every few months, we offer a “Membership Matters” class for visitors interested in learning more about what it means to be a member at Grace Church. In the class, we focus on our understanding of the gospel, our beliefs, and our ministry practices. Our next class is January 4, 2025.
Membership Interview
After completing the membership class, the prospective member meets with two elders to discuss God’s saving work in their life. The prospective member would then sign the Grace Church Covenant, and the elders recommend that the congregation approve the prospective member.
Congregational Affirmation
Upon completion of these requirements and based on the recommendation of the elders to the church body, the prospective member will be presented to and affirmed by the church during a Sunday morning worship gathering. We view this welcome as a significant and celebratory event in the life of our church!
