Our Mission

We exist to proclaim, cherish, and be transformed by the gospel for the glory of God.

Characteristics

A few labels give you an initial idea of who we are as a church:

  • We are Evangelical, and therefore believe that the Bible is God’s Word and is therefore without error and is our final authority for all matters of life and doctrine. Second, it means we believe people need to respond to the gospel of Christ in order to be saved.
  • We are essentially Reformed in our theology, and therefore embrace a view of the teaching of Scripture that places God at the center of all things, and places emphasis on the activity of God and the glory of God in saving sinners.
  • We are Baptistic in practice, and therefore partner with the International Mission Board (SBC) in order to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world, through church planting.

Defining Values

If you were to stick around Grace for long enough, we hope you’d notice certain shared values being lived out in our practices. The standard for all we do as a church is the word of God, and this is reflected in the following commitments:

  1. The gospel: More than anything we want to be “people of the gospel.” As our vision statement indicates, we exist to proclaim, cherish and be transformed by the gospel for the glory of God. We believe that the gospel is good news because it transforms lives, and is the source of our joy in God.
  2. Sound Doctrine: We are continually seeking to grow in our knowledge of the Scriptures, and to apply their truth to our lives. This manifests itself in our commitment to expository preaching, application oriented small groups, and even on the Resource Table.
  3. Sanctification: Christians are people in the midst of change. As followers of Christ we are seeking to put off sin, and put on Christ-like living. Our pursuit of this finds express in small groups, various contexts for biblical fellowship and throughout the life of the church.
  4. Relationships: One of God’s primary means of God working in His people is as Christians grow in their relationship with one another. We are seeking to cultivate a culture of relational connectedness in our small groups, our emphasis on family life, the practice of hospitality and many other ways.
  5. Servant-hood: Humble servant-hood is the mark of true greatness according to Jesus. Grace Church is a place full of servants happily, and sacrificially giving of their time in formal ways like preschool ministry and the truck team to informal ways like having friends over for dinner or helping to do household repairs for a fellow church member.
  6. Family: At Grace Church, we are seeking to reunite church and home, for the benefit of both. In all levels of ministry we encourage and equip members of the family to more faithfully live out God’s design for them. This finds expression in our effort to build men up to lead their families, and in a parent-driven youth ministry that aims not only to care for young people, but to equip and encourage parents to faithfully shepherd the hearts of their young people.
  7. Evangelism/Mission: Sharing the gospel is both privilege and a responsibility. This finds expression in evangelistic courses and training, mission trips and giving, and personal care and witness by the members of Grace Church.
